Annual Pass for Veterans with Disabilities

Under NC SL 2024-45, Section 15.(a) to 15.(d), eligible veterans with service-connected disabilities can receive a free North Carolina State Parks Annual Pass with proof of eligibility. Note: the law specifies that only the veteran is eligible for this benefit, and it does not apply to spouses, caregivers or other members of the family.

• If you would like to pick up your pass at a park, please bring a copy of your Summary of Benefits Letter from the federal Department of Veterans Affairs as proof of eligibility. Your letter can be accessed through the VA: Health and Benefits app or va.gov. Check ncparks.gov for park office and visitor center hours.
• If you would like the pass mailed to you, please email a copy of your Summary of Benefits Letter to dpr.webstore@ncparks.gov and include whether you want the Annual Pass for Reservoirs, the Annual Pass, or the Annual Pass with Four-Wheel-Drive Beach Access. If you do not indicate which pass you want, you will receive the regular Annual Pass by default. Each veteran may request one pass only. The Annual Pass with 4WD Beach Access is all-inclusive and provides all the benefits included in the other two passes.

  To redeem the 4WD access benefit, you must obtain a separate transponder from the park office at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. Check ncparks.gov/fofi for park office hours. The Annual Pass with 4WD Beach Access cannot be scanned to enter the gate.
