Our primitive group campground is open year-around for organizations and nonprofit groups that want a more rugged camping experience. Reservations are required for use of this campground.
Mayo Mountain Access is 400 acres of a mix of hardwoods and pine. At this location there is no access to the Mayo River. You will have to visit other parts of the park up and down the Mayo River for access.
There are trails, picnicing, and an open field for use at the Mayo Mountain Access.
The primitive group camp offers an open field for tents, a pit privy, fire ring, picnic tables and running water. The camp accomodates up to 40 people.
There are multiple park land parcels up and down the Mayo River. The Deshazo Mill and Anglin Mill accesses are each about a 20-minute drive from the park office, and both are accessible from Anglin Mill Road. The Hickory Creek access is located on Tyne Road, which is a 15-minute drive from the park office. Nearby to the park are 3 small, historic towns: Mayodan, Madison, and Stoneville.
